GuidesFor ScoutersInstructions
Scouting on Motherhunt follows a clear loop: spot a face, approach with respect, capture clean snaps, submit the lot, and let the community vote. This guide is the step-by-step path through that loop, with links to the deep-dive guide for each step.
Follow it in order the first few times. Once the rhythm is second nature, you will move from a chance sighting to a submitted lot in minutes.
Step 1 — Learn to read faces
Before you scout anyone, train your eye. Knowing model types lets you recognise potential at a glance and judge where a face could work. Study the Faces guide until classic, commercial, editorial, and the rest are instantly familiar.
Step 2 — Approach the person
When you spot someone, the approach decides everything. Be polite, professional, and brief — explain who you are and why you noticed them. The Hunting guide walks through turning a street sighting into a real scouting conversation.
Step 3 — Capture snaps
Clean, honest photos are the heart of any submission. Agencies judge the unstyled face, so your snaps must show it truthfully. The Snaps guide covers what to shoot, how to frame it, and the consent you need first.
Step 4 — Submit the lot
With snaps and basic details in hand, create the lot:
- Open the platform and start a new lot for the person you scouted.
- Add their snaps and the measurements and details you gathered.
- Send the draft for the model to confirm their participation.
- Publish the lot to the community once it is confirmed.
Step 5 — Community voting
Published lots are voted on by the scouter community, which decides what reaches auction. Cast votes on other lots too — voting is part of being a scouter. The Voting rules guide explains eligibility, thresholds, and how voting works.
Earning karma
Every good submission and every thoughtful vote builds your karma — the on-chain reputation that unlocks ranks, voting power, and discounts. The Karma guide shows exactly how the score grows and what each rank earns you.
Quick checklist
Before you submit, confirm you have:
- Identified the model type and noted approximate measurements.
- Approached respectfully and secured the person's consent.
- Captured clean, unstyled snaps from the right angles.
- Filled in accurate details before publishing the lot.
